About Hades (video game)
Hades is Supergiant Games' masterpiece roguelike that turned the genre's biggest frustration — dying and starting over — into its greatest strength. You play Zagreus, son of Hades, attempting to escape the Greek underworld for the surface, and every death sends you back to the House of Hades. But death is progress: you keep permanent upgrades, and more importantly, you return to a cast of fully voiced characters whose relationships evolve with every conversation. Combat is fast, fluid, and build-defining: the Olympian gods offer boons that stack into wildly different playstyles, and six weapons each play completely differently. The story is woven into the gameplay loop so elegantly that the game won Game of the Year awards across the industry. Even after dozens of runs, the writing, art, and music keep pulling you back. Its sequel, Hades II, continues the formula with new characters and challenges.
